THE NUTRITIONIST IN AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH IN A HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT – EXPERIENCE REPORT

Abstract:
In search of a better health care, it is essential to comply with the guidelines and principles of the Unified Health System. The interdisciplinary team of health professionals perfect the service, improve the relationship between the team and enables better patient care.  The study aims to report the integration of nutritionist in interdisciplinary teams in the hospital setting.  This is an experience report of Nutritionists team in the participation of clinical meetings of care services to adults / elderly in a university hospital Natal / RN. The meetings took place from March to September 2016, with the participation of doctors, nurses, nutritionists, physical therapists, psychologists, dentists, social workers, speech therapists and pharmacists and residents. Discussions about certain cases proved to be satisfactory, since new proposals are perceived to direct the best treatment to the patient.  With the meetings became possible to identify the importance of integration with other professions in order to define the most appropriate dietotherapeutic conduct. The interdisciplinary interaction allows the professional nutritionist a comprehensive view of the hospitalized patient, allowing a dietary plan with better foundation, and thus can contribute to improving the patient’s condition.
