To compare the quality of life among elderly practitioners and non-practitioners of physical activity

Physical activity practiced regularly provides health improvements, thus, the practitioner has a longer life expectancy avoiding occurring decline of physiological processes, maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. To compare the quality of life among elderly practitioners and non-practitioners of physical activity. The study was conducted in the city of Iguatu - CE, with two groups of elderly, a group of 40 elderly women who practiced physical activity and another 40 elderly women who did not practice. It was shown significant differences in the environmental field [t (78) = - 5.57; p <0.01] physical [t (78) = - 7.78; p <0.01] and psychological [t (78) = - 7.03; p <0.01]. Thus, the social sector there was no significant difference. We conclude that the adoption of an active lifestyle and regular practice of physical activity are essential to good health and quality of life for the elderly, as this is linked also with a better functional capacity, mobility.
